The new series of Knight Rider starts on NBC this Sunday and as a promotion gig the new K.I.T.T. car is featured on another NBC profile: Jay Leno’s Garage. He checks out the modified Ford Shelby Mustang GT – the new Knight Rider!
One of my favorite American cars for the last few years is the Ford Shelby GT500. The Garage Blog had the opportunity to take a Ford Shelby GT500 2008 edition to the tracks – and what a day they had! Too bad they didn’t have any videos to post, but it’s worth a read.
The final section in the car had to have been the highlight of the day. 135 mph on the bank of Pocono Raceway, 6 feet off the back bumper of the Viper GTS, watching the white 911 about 20 feet off my stern.

“With 500 hp and the Shelby name, this car is an instant legend,” said Hau Thai-Tang, director, Advanced Product Creation & SVT programs. “This is the most powerful, most capable Mustang ever.”
“Due next spring, the new Escape may be marketed as an early 2008 model, along with a freshened version of its companion, the Mercury Mariner. Ford is upgrading the cabin with better-quality materials and more features”
